Aby bylo vše vráceno do původních kolejí, tak zdejší božstva dovolila lidem povolat skupinu mocných hrdinů z jiného světa - z našeho světa. Těmi vyvolenými se stala obyčejná japonská středoškolská třída včetně paní učitelky. Většina dostala do vínku spoustu úžasných schopností, až na Hajimeho, který ovládá pouze jedno transmutační kouzlo. Díky tomu se Hajime cítí mezi svými spolužáky jako podřadný a někteří mu jeho nedostatečné bojové schopnosti dávají i pořádně sežrat. Při jedné výpravě na nepřátelské území je navíc Hajime zasažen kouzlem jednoho ze svých spojenců a sražen až na dno hluboké propasti. Opuštěn a zrazen si mladý chlapec sáhne až na dno, ovšem v momentě, kdy by se ostatní složili a zemřeli při prvním nepřátelském útoku, se Hajime rozhodne nevzdat se. Zmobilizuje svoji veškerou sílu, přemůže jedno z monster, a aby přežil, tak pozře jeho maso a napije se podivné léčivé vody, kterou zde našel....
