Edith vede vcelku poklidný a šťastný život. Je to již mnoho let, co ovdověla a její děti bydlí nedaleko a pravidelně ji navštěvují. Navíc se schází se sympatickým pánem ze sousedství. Phil si brousí zuby, že Edith požádá o ruku a společně se odstěhují do zahraničí za sluníčkem. Když je Edith ochotna odpovědět kladně na jeho otázku, nastane nečekaný zvrat událostí. Na dveře totiž zaklepe její 50letý syn Roger. Ten opustil ženu a děti, dokonce dal v práci výpověď, jen aby opět našel štěstí.
