Po havárii letadla se nevlastní bratři Karl a David dostávají na fantastický ostrov Dinotopie. V této dosud neobjevené části světa žijí v poklidné shodě lidé s dinosaury, kteří umí nejen mluvit, ale i číst a psát. Mnozí z nich studují, třeba jako stenonychosaurus Zippo, který je knihovníkem a mluví sedmnácti jazyky. S ním a s Marion, dcerou starosty z Města vodopádů, prožijí oba bratři vzrušující dobrodružství. Život a pohoda na Dinotopii jsou ale v ohrožení, protože energetické zdroje ostrova, bájné sluneční kameny, začínají slábnout. Osud Dinotopie se ocitá v rukou našich dvou hrdinů..
