Všechno a nic je epický příběh o odhalení skutečné velikosti všeho a naprosté prázdnotě nicoty. Profesor Jim Al-Khalili se nejdříve zabývá vyloženě jednoduchou otázkou: proč je v noci tma? Hledání odpovědi ho zavede až na hranice známého vesmíru. Pak se zaměří na vědu na hraně lidského vnímání, kde se ukrývají nejhlubší tajemství vesmíru. Rozhodne se také odhalit, co je nicota. Jeho výprava za poznáním končí zřejmě nejzásadnějším poznatkem o realitě, ke kterému se lidstvu podařilo dospět. Všechno vzešlo z ničeho.
