Filmmakers such as George Lucas and Steven Spielberg helped redefine the genre, pioneering a new blockbuster era. Lucas reshaped cinema with the Star Wars trilogy starting in 1977, while Spielberg created a generational landmark with E.T. in 1982, both leaving a lasting influence on modern filmmaking.
