Skupina Britů opouští v roce 1956 ponurou poválečnou Británii a vydává se na dobrodružnou cestu na druhou stranu světa, která jim změní život. Za pouhých deset dolarů jim byla slíbena lepší kvalita života u moře ve sluncem zalité Austrálii, ale život tam dole není zrovna idylický. Bojují s novou identitou přistěhovalců a my sledujeme jejich triumfy a nástrahy, jak se přizpůsobují novému životu v nové zemi, daleko od Británie a známých míst.
